Today: Smile Nuked Off His Face, Which the Hoodie Doesn't Hide
Some may say, "Ahh, he's rich, he'll get off." No, probably not. They
seem to have a pretty good case against him, and given the nature of the
case (that he stole from one of his companies to pay off debts on a bad investment) that he so publicly bragged about paying $2
million for a goddamn record (again, fuck the Wu-Tang Clan. They claimed
they didn't know, but they did and that's why they kept it secret) does not help him at all.
Also, remember Bernie Madoff or that
dude from Enron? This is clearly an example the FBI and SEC are trying
to make. Because he's perfect for it; he's young, he's an unlikable shit
that tried to bleed sick people for money, and there are SO many
pictures of him looking like a douche. Also, it seems that he DOESN'T really have so much money, at least liquid, as he pretended. This guy
will likely get everything thrown at him. That's how the system
works: they get to pretend they go after such guys, which is good PR for them, while the system
itself is maintained. And while in a macro sense that's terrible, just because not
everyone is caught doesn't mean we shouldn't be happy when one such as
this is, at least. You don't let all shoplifters go just because you
missed some.
I'm
guessing he has no support from the present board, who might even have
helped precipitate this. That's how you get rid of a CEO who's a
liability like him. I
mean, they like money, but they want it to be sustainable. This guy had
all the business grace of a crack addict. A steady stream of consumers
paying less than that is better than excluding most of them from even
buying it.
There's
rumors his board has been not that pleased with this when they look at
the long term. Especially given the only reason he could do it was no
one else was making the drug; but it's not
in patent anymore, and wasn't when he pushed up the price. Now at least one other company is making it and
charging less. He wrecked their monopoly that previously no one had even
been aware of. That's why he didn't get hit for monopolistic behavior--technically anyone can make it.
Some
are saying, "But it's not for the awful thing he did!" Well, (a) it is,
just a different one, and (b) it took the IRS to get Capone too, but he
was gotten. Whatever it takes. Same reason I have no problem using
sexual misconduct against Republicans.Out is out.
UPDATE: And he IS out. He's resigned, so whether he goes to jail or not, he is out of the way. Thank you Santa! ___________________
