Curtis' documentary about the rise in psychology & politics of the "concept and definition of freedom, specifically, how a simplistic model of human beings as self-seeking, almost robotic, creatures led to today's idea of freedom."
Said model, by the way, was the (later repudiated, but much influential even now in government, economic & military theory) innovation of game theory pioneer John Nash. You may remember his story in A BEAUTIFUL MIND. His model as described above is the working assumption behind, among other things, free-market ideas. And Nash, as you may know, was, when he formulated these ideas, an untreated paranoid schizophrenic.
And we live in a world much of whose policy is based on these concepts. Bears thinking about. And there's no ludicrous Oliver Stone conspiracy theory to this, nothing secret, just things that are usually too boring for people to recognize anything systematic or deliberate about them.
