HEY! You Should Read More Creator-Owned Comics: Terry LaBan's MUKTUK WOLFSBREATH Returns, More
Everyone's favorite arctic shaman, whom you may recall in the Vertigo limited series with Steve Parkhouse of quite some time ago, returns online, now drawn by Laban. So you really should have a look at it. Here.
Given the majors are so idealess now, apart from occasional gems, like stuff by Fraction or Brubaker--DC apart from Grant Morrison and Frazer Irving (XOMBI, which you should buy because it is beautiful) is a lost cause--you should really be checking out creator-owned comics that aren't vomiting the same ideas up at you after the fourth time through the digestive tract. Yes, FLASHPOINT and the DC relaunch, I especially mean you. And some of them are even done by the very same creators you read already at DC and Marvel. Unlike those companies, we indie creators don't have massive corporations to back us up. So not only do we tend to do comics designed to be read rather than collected, we also depend a lot more on your support, because we're not R&D for movie projects. And we think comics should be fun. Don't you?
Creator-owned comics have all these pluses: you can be sure these are stories we want to tell from our hearts, and we will never retcon. We will not hurt you like the giant corporations do. Read us instead. The more you encourage it, the more comics we'll be able to give you to read. And we want to make you LOTS of comics, all of us.
It's summer. You should have comics you enjoy, not yet another fucking crossover event that'll just be retconned when you blink. How is that fun?
