In 1992, Mantlo was struck by a car while rollerblading. He suffered severe head trauma and spent over a year in a coma. He has since been institutionalized and is not expected to fully recover.David Yurkovich has put together an excellent benefit book, about which you can find out more here, and which you can probably find at your local comics retailer. I came across it by chance today and bought it immediately. So should you.
