Space Mormons

That's what the original Galactica was. I started to really notice this watching a few of the old episodes on Netflix' Instant Viewing(which I like, but they should be less stingy with the selection and viewing time). I was going to do research to write about it myself, but this site pretty much covers it.

MANTLO: A LIFE IN COMICS: A Benefit Book You Must Buy

By which I mean Bill Mantlo, the writer you, I, and everyone who read comics in the late 70s and the 80s grew up reading. And to whom something terrible happened a while back, of which you may not be aware.
In 1992, Mantlo was struck by a car while rollerblading. He suffered severe head trauma and spent over a year in a coma. He has since been institutionalized and is not expected to fully recover.
David Yurkovich has put together an excellent benefit book, about which you can find out more here, and which you can probably find at your local comics retailer. I came across it by chance today and bought it immediately. So should you.

None of the major Republican candidates running for office have repudiated any of Bush's policies. They simply promise to execute them better.

Radiohead--"InRainbows"

So, that album of theirs released without any record company at all, that you pay what you want to for?

It's great, and you should go buy it now. And following their example, Nine Inch Nails, Madonna, and I'm sure many more are also saying goodbye to the useless, outmoded record companies. And under those circumstances, when it's only up to the fans, how long can the banal pop the record companies want us to buy(because it's under their control and they can predict the outcome of their promotion better, and they get most of the money and rights and the artist gets little) last?

I'd rather support actual art, not help Britney Spears fund her drinking.

Warner decrees: no female leads. That's right--people aren't avoiding your stupid movies because they suck. They're avoiding them because they gots wimmins in prominent roles.

After all, nobody likes to look at women. I certainly don't!

Help Radiohead Destroy the Record Industry

Their new album, "In Rainbows," is being offered for download(on Oct. 9, but you can pre-order) directly by the band for whatever you think it's worth paying, apparently(I suggest at least $1.50, as this is the estimated break-even point per sale according to this).

This album has not been signed yet with any record company, nor with ITunes. All proceeds go directly to the band. If Radiohead succeeds here, it will be the first step in breaking the dated hold the major labels have on artists, and maybe create a world in which quality counts over celebrity and promotion.

I like this idea. Go and buy. I did.
