How Did They Come To Believe All Their Own Bullshit?
Because the Bush administration never came in to work with present reality. They instead wanted to hammer reality into a shape that fit their view of it. Otherwise it might have been harder work, and we know they hate that.
Advanced schizophrenics will sometimes try to do violence to themselves to make their outward appearance match how they feel inside. My opinion is: so with them.
Longtime readers of this blog(I know at least there's one) will recall this passage written by Ron Suskind some time back:
