"It may not be popular with the public — it doesn't matter."Remember that brand-new quote from Dick Cheney regarding Iraq the next time all of you hand the power to make a war over to your government. Assuming you ever have the option of choosing again. They needed your consent once. Only once. They know that we hate them. They know we don't want this. They've stopped pretending otherwise. And they reveal that they don't give a shit and never did. And that we are living under a dictatorship and America is dead. It's not "fascism." You've been chasing that chimera too long. You've been looking in the wrong places, defining things too simplistically, fighting the last war. It's something new, purer, and worse.Did the repetition of "chad" bore you? Poor things. I can see why that would be a reason to hand the presidency over to these fucking monsters. Go ahead, make fun of them for pronouncing it "nuculer." Criticize them, even. Blog it. Photoshop it. Say whatever you like. Nothing you say can remove them from power, so why should they give a damn? And do you think they're going to let go of any of their power? Do they act as though they would if the people decided that? If we decide that on Tuesday?Face your worst fear, the one you've been hiding all this time. That it really is as bad as it seems, and that it's most likely far worse. That our country really has been taken from us. That this is what it looks like when you're inside it. They've locked up democracy, thrown away the key, and thrown the strongbox into the sea, laughing. And it is all your fault, my fault, every one of us. Because we let it happen, which was all they needed.
And those who actually voted for them: you are traitors. You are stupid. You are garbage. And you should feel guilty, for the rest of your lives. You are traitors to everyone who ever died--and still does--for this country. Just because you wanted to feel big and show them liberal smartasses, you let this beast loose. Just because it makes you feel all icky that gay people exist. Just because, dear God, of your belief in the "right to life."
Are thousands upon thousands of actual, verified, certain dead worth the hypothetical lives of the unborn? Do you feel better now? Did you not care because you thought you'd have been raptured by now? Well, here you are, still on Earth, and now you have to live with this idea: Did it give you a rush to go to the aid of a braindead woman and let Bush and Cheney murder thousands?
Right now, at this moment, an American soldier is dying because of you. For nothing.
Do you feel okay with the idea that, without you, none of the last five years would have happened this way? What does your god say about that? What will he say to you when you die?
You'd better pray that he doesn't exist. Because if he does, Hell is filled with fools like you.
Now go listen to your fucking IPod or watch Dancing With The Stars.
